CEP LOCAL 594
The 6th National CEP
Women's Conference was held in Moncton, New Brunswick
on Oct. 16-18, 2005. Approximately 250 people attended (with enough men
to
have their voices heard) attended this intellectual, fact-filled and fun
conference. Workshops took up a larger part of the time, with each of
getting to know the other attendees in their workshop very well. Being
able
to see into some one else's life is always an eye opener! Workshop
titles
were Feminism 101, Peace & Freedom, Equality at work in CEP,
Working for
Justice, and Women in Solidarity. All the conference attendees also
participated in the International Women's Day Walk to City Hall on Oct.
17th.
Brenda Robertson & Sharlene Stanley represented CEP
local 594 at this
event. They attended The Equality at Work workshop. Not only equality
for
women was discussed but for people of colour, the disabled and the Gay
community. The theme that seems to arise from this workshop was "we are
all
workers-brothers and sisters of CEP standing together for equality."
Brenda & Sharlene found this to be a very
interesting and eye opening
conference. They both wish to thank Local CEP 594 for selecting and
sending
them to this informative conference and they hope that the message of
"equality for all" is spread throughout our local, Sask. and all of
Canada.
